Stine ’s series of horror-fantasy fables first published in 1992—has seen enough film adaptations, comic books, video games and TV series that Generations X, Y and Z have always considered it a current event. Far grimmer than its near-contemporary Harry Potter , the “Goosebumps” oeuvre shares a similar appreciation for humor among the dark arts and has likewise been a target of censors outraged by its grooming of children to be witches, warlocks, satanists and acolytes of the occult. It is hardly meant to be taken so seriously.
